Here are the top stories today in Tampa:
1. A series of complaints about criminal activity occurring at motels and hotels in East Tampa has led to multiple arrests for armed drug trafficking. Tampa police raided rooms at the Alamo Motel, located at 6110 N. Nebraska Ave., on June 2. (Tampa Patch)
2. A Tampa Bay Lightning fan was knocked out Thursday night when an angry New York Rangers fan in New York suddenly turned and punched him in the face. The video of the attack has now gone viral. The attacker has been banned for life from Madison Square Garden and arrested on two counts of assault, two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of harassment. 3. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to respond to an argument at the Brandon mall on Friday evening but dispelled social media rumors about an active shooting situation. One person fired shots then left the scene in a car, according to authorities. No one was taken into custody. (WFLA)
4. Michelin Guide announced its winners for Florida on Thursday. The only three cities included in the guide are Tampa, Orlando and Miami. No Tampa restaurants won Michelin stars. However, three Tampa restaurants received the Bib Gourmand designation: Ichicoro, Rooster and The Till and Rocca. (Tampa Patch, That's So Tampa)
5. The University of South Florida College of Nursing is addressing a nurse shortage with a push to expand its undergraduate nursing education. The college said Florida Governor DeSantis approved $33 million in the FY 2022-23 budget for the USF Health College of Nursing to expand its infrastructure and current footprint on USF's Tampa campus.
