New York, May 16, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Reportlinker.com announces the release of the report "Masks (N95 Respirators And Other Surgical Masks) Global Market Report 2022" - https://www.reportlinker.com/p06277167/?utm_source=GNW The global masks (n95 respirators and other surgical masks) market is expected to grow from $12.37 billion in 2021 to $13.46 billion in 2022 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8%. The market is expected to grow to $18.1 billion in 2026 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.7%. The market for N95 respirators and other surgical masks (face masks) consists of sales of N95 respirators and other surgical face masks that are used as personal protective equipment to protect the wearer from airborne particles and liquid contaminating the face. The main types of N95 respirators and other surgical masks are N95 respirators, common grade surgical masks, and others (comfort masks/dust masks).N95 respirators are particulate-filtering respirators that are utilized to save the wearer from particles or liquid contaminating the face. These are either reusable or disposable that are used in hospitals and clinics, individuals, industrial, and others. North America was the largest region in the N95 respirators and other surgical masks market in 2021.Asia Pacific was the second largest region in the smart insulin pens market. The regions covered in this report are Asia-Pacific, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, North America, South America, Middle East, and Africa. The masks market is experiencing exponential growth due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because the covid-19 is a severe acute respiratory syndrome, which can be transmitted through airborne droplets, which masks can potentially block. Masks are therefore essential equipment for staff dealing with infectious patients. In addition, many other workers and individuals are using face masks as a precautionary measure. The rise in the outbreak of airborne diseases contributed to the growth of the masks market.Airborne transmission of infectious agents refers to the transmission of disease caused by the dissemination of droplet nuclei that remain infectious when suspended in air over long distances and time. Precautions that create a barrier and procedures that decrease or eliminate the microbe in the environment or on personal belongings, form the basis of interrupting transmission of direct contact diseases. The spread of airborne diseases like seasonal influenza kills 200–500 thousand people annually, influenza A (H1N1) caused 1,076 deaths in 2019, many of whom were healthy adults. These recent outbreaks remind us of the potential for a pandemic such as the Spanish flu of 1918–1920 which killed 50–100 million people and now it is the recent outbreak of COVID-19. This is expected to drive the growth of the masks market by several folds in the short term. Concerns regarding the disposal of non-woven disposables have always been a major challenge.Non-woven disposable surgical masks are made up of polypropylene which is a non-biodegradable material that cannot be decomposed by natural means. According to World Bank research, nearly 1.3 billion tons of municipal solid waste are produced worldwide each year. It is estimated that about 19 billion tons of solid waste will be produced annually by 2025 worldwide. These factors are expected to have a negative impact on the disposable surgical mask market as regulatory agencies will take stringent actions regarding the disposal of these non-biodegradable masks. This may have a negative impact on the market. The shift towards disposable devices in developed countries is one of the major trends in the market.Disposable masks eliminate the need for product sterilization and reduce cross-contamination with other reusable products. They are also cost-effective, prevent contamination, and reduce hospital stay, whereas reusable non-woven, masks need to be decontaminated, washed, sterilized for every reuse.Although, reusable surgical face masks can be sterilized and laundered for reuse but are less protective and more time-consuming for production as well as washing and sterilization for reuse. According to the FDA, surgical masks are not intended to be used more than once. This can rise the adoption of disposable respiratory masks. Disposable surgical face masks are often perceived to have protective advantages over reusable surgical face masks as they must be immediately discarded as bio-hazardous materials. The countries covered in the N95 respirators and other surgical masks market are Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, South Korea, UK, and USA. Monkeypox causes lesions that resemble pus-filled blisters, which eventually scab over. CDC/Getty ImagesOn May 18, 2022, Massachusetts health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed a single case of monkeypox in a patient who had recently traveled to Canada. Cases have also been reported in the United Kingdom and Europe. Monkeypox isn’t a new disease. The first confirmed human case was in 1970, when the virus was isolated from a child suspected of having smallpox i

The World Health Organization was holding an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the recent outbreak of monkeypox, a viral infection more common to west and central Africa, after over 100 cases were confirmed or suspected in Europe. In what Germany described as the largest outbreak in Europe ever, cases have been reported in at least nine countries – Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom - as well as the United States, Canada and Australia. Spain reported 24 new cases on Friday, mainly in the Madrid region where the regional government closed a sauna linked to the majority of infections.

The disease has been identified in nations like Canada, Britain, and now, the U.S.

Scientists are concerned to see that many of the identified cases had no links to one another.

When you go grocery shopping, you trust that the items on the shelf have been properly vetted to ensure safety. That's true, of course, but sometimes products do fall through the cracks and become subject to recall. For those of us who purchase meat and poultry products, food safety is particularly concerning, as tainted meat can contain harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli. But now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has i

STORY: Why are cases of monkeypox spreading?]A handful of monkeypox cases have been reported or are suspected in Britain, Portugal, Spain, and the U.S.The outbreaks are raising alarm because the disease mostly occurs in west and central Africa, and only very occasionally spreads elsewhere. Here's what scientists know so far.Symptoms Monkeypox is a virus that causes fever and a distinctive bumpy rash. There are two main strains. The Congo strain is more severe, with up to 10% mortality,The West African strain has a fatality rate of 1%.Jimmy Whitworth is a professor of international public health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.(SOUNDBITE) (English) PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH AT LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TROPICAL MEDICINE, JIMMY WHITWORTH, SAYING: "It usually starts with fever and headache. People feel pretty miserable and tired. They can get swollen glands. And then this typical rash develops, which is sort of pustular in form. And that's usually what's infectious."Transmission The virus was first found in monkeys in 1958, hence the name. But rodents are now seen as the main source of transmission. The virus spreads through close contact, both in spillovers from animal hosts and, less commonly, between humans. Transmission this time is puzzling experts. That’s because a number of the cases in the UK have no known connection with each other. Only the first case reported on May 6 had recently travelled to Nigeria. The UK and U.S. health officials also highlighted that the recent cases were predominantly among men who self-identified as gay or bisexual. Why now? One likely scenario behind the jump in cases is increased travel after COVID restrictions were lifted.Monkeypox puts virologists on the alert because it is in the smallpox family, although it causes less serious illness.Smallpox was eradicated by vaccination in 1980, and the shot has been phased out. But it also protects against monkeypox. Some epidemiologists say the winding down of vaccination campaigns has led to a jump in monkeypox cases. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH AT LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TROPICAL MEDICINE, JIMMY WHITWORTH, SAYING: "This is quite alarming from a public health point of view and something that we really need to get a grip of and control as as quickly as we can. There's no need to panic here. This is not going to spread and get into the general population and cause an epidemic like the corona virus has. But even so, this is a pretty large cluster of what appears to be quite a large area."

With summer around the corner, we're getting ready to venture to the beach, the lake, or maybe just to the park for a picnic and to enjoy the sun. Before heading out, Walmart stores are an easy pitstop where you can pick up supplies and snacks. At least one case of monkeypox has been confirmed in the U.S.

Scientists who have monitored numerous outbreaks of monkeypox in Africa say they are baffled by the disease's recent spread in Europe and North America. Cases of the smallpox-related disease have previously been seen only among people with links to central and West Africa. There are about 80 confirmed cases worldwide and 50 more suspected ones, the World Health Organization said.

SYDNEY (Reuters) -Australia on Friday reported its first monkeypox case in a traveller who recently returned from Britain, while a probable case of infection was identified with testing being carried out to confirm it. A man in his 30s who arrived in Melbourne on Monday has the virus, Victoria state's health department said, while the probable case was identified in Sydney in a man in his 40s who had recently travelled to Europe. Both men developed mild illness after arriving back in Australia with symptoms clinically compatible with monkeypox, health officials said.

A Massachusetts resident was diagnosed with the extremely rare virus, but the CDC has said this case poses "no risk to the public"

LONDON (Reuters) -The UK Health Security Agency said on Friday it had detected 11 new cases of monkeypox in England, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 20. Britain had previously reported a total of nine cases of the usually mild viral illness, characterised by symptoms of fever as well as a distinctive bumpy rash. British Health Secretary Sajid Javid said he had updated G7 health ministers on what is known so far about the outbreak.

MILAN (Reuters) -Italy on Friday confirmed two more cases of monkeypox infection at the Spallanzani hospital in Rome, bringing the total cases to three so far in the country. The Lazio region health commissioner Alessio D'Amato said in a statement that the two other suspected infections related to the first detected case had now been confirmed.

Health officials say they're trying to determine if the case is connected to the small outbreaks in Europe. The U.S. reported only two cases in 2021.
