The FIFA World Cup is heading to Qatar as 32 nations compete to prove who is the dominant footballing country. While Brazil is the consensus betting favorite due to all the talent at their disposal, that doesn’t mean soccer bettors can’t find some value further down the board.

Arguably one of the best strikers in the world — and one of the greatest Polish footballers to ever play the game — captain Robert Lewandowski is going to be at the height of trying to get Barcelona back to the top of the La Liga table when the World Cup begins. He will have already scored plenty as practice during the league campaign to help lead his country come the start of the tournament.

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny of Juventus will be a brick wall for the Bialo-Czerwoni, and right-back Matty Cash switched his nationality to play under Poland in November. He had a stellar season at Aston Villa under new head coach Steven Gerrard and should solidify a strong defensive corps for Poland.

Playing in the same group as Mexico and Argentina will be tough. But three points against Saudi Arabia and a result against one of the other two teams could qualify them out of the group and go on a run.

The United States failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 and will be playing in the competition for the first time since 2014 with an abundance of new, young faces on the roster. They also have a new head coach in Greg Berhalter who was named to the squad in December of 2018 and has already won the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the team.

With an England team favored at +700 ready to avenge their heartbreak from the EURO 2020 final and a Welsh team that has qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1958, Group B is going to have some intense competition. Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, Juventus’ Weston McKennie and Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna, and Lille’s Tim Weah will all be forces on the attack while Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Barcelona’s Sergino Dest hold the back, giving the United States a solid chance to make a run for a World Cup.

The United States has a ton of young talent that should not be overlooked.

Canada is faced with a decent Group F. They’ll have to face off against Belgium with world-class midfielders Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, captain Eden Hazard of Real Madrid, Youri Tielemans, Axel Witsel, and a hopefully rejuvenated Romelu Lukaku after his return to Inter Milan from Chelsea. Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and company at the back will have to work overtime for Canada to keep such a deep squad at bay.

However, Group F also holds Morocco — who Canada should easily grab three points against — as well as an older Croatia squad that Canada can likely squeeze at least a point out of. However, if the 2022 Champions League taught fans anything it’s that Real Madrid’s Luka Modric is still a generational talent. Now facing off as opponents in the Premier League, beating midfielders Ivan Perisic and Mateo Kovacic will be the focus for Canada’s counter-attack.
